Tommy Carruthers is one of the martial arts specialists who has not a typical course. This Scottish man has more than 50 years of experience in MA. He first began with close military combat, following in his father’s footsteps, before practicing a whole slew of specialties as diverse as Chinese boxing, jujitsu… But his life changed when he discovered the films by Bruce Lee.
His goal is to teach the martial art the way it was intended to be taught – for self-defense. He is only interested in practical self-defense techniques that work in real-life situations. As we know that Bruce Lee’s martial art should have no shape or form. But Tommy also believes that students need a starting point and he sees no better starting point than using techniques from Bruce Lee’s modified Wing Chun, boxing and fencing.
Later he will write 5 parts of the book Jeet Kune-do pocket handbook”, then “The sweet science of boxing – Vol 1” and “Tribute to Jesse Glover book”.
He will also record the training course “Crash system – military unarmed combat” which is based on unarmed combat techniques from the Second World War, but simplified for the modern-day.
